About Tarron Crayton
BIO
Tarron Crayton is a Grammy Award-Winning musician, producer and songwriter from Memphis, Tennessee. Crayton, 35, comes from a long line of musical talent. His grandmother Mary, mother Sheddie and Aunts Gladys, Alma and Kim formed a gospel quartet in Crawfordsville, Arkansas. His father Raymond Crayton was a professional vocalist who performed across the U.S. with his band, Shiloh Spirituals and Gospel Tornadoes. His great cousin, Chester Burnett a.k.a, “Howlin’ Wolf,” is a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and is widely regarded as one of the most influential blues musicians of all time.
The Apostolic Church was central to Crayton’s early life in several ways. When he was 12 years old, his mother struggled to make ends meet and eventually lost the family home. Her pastor friend offered her, Crayton and his two sisters shelter at his church, a less than ideal living situation. During the week, Crayton would sneak into the chapel to play the church’s guitar, bass, piano and drum set. This provided an escape from his reality and a space to hone what would become life changing skills. By the age of 17 he was performing professionally.
After graduating high school in 2006, Crayton attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) an HBCU where he majored in Sound Recording Technology and performed with the school’s Jazz Ensemble. He credits his professor Darryl Evans aka Mr. E for introducing him to Music Theory and industry legends like Clark Terry, an American swing and bebop trumpeter, pioneer of the flugelhorn in jazz, composer and educator.
While studying at UAPB, Crayton also made a living playing at churches and various clubs in the local area. After just two years at the University, he decided to leave college and move back to Memphis, TN. Crayton performed on the famous Beale st for 3 years before relocating to Los Angeles,CA, April 2011.
Just three months after the move, Crayton was performing on the BET awards with Alicia Keys, Bruno Mars, and Rick Ross. Since then, Crayton has become one of the industry's most trusted live performers touring and working with Demi Lovato, Jonas Brothers, Usher, Ariana Grande, and many more. Crayton has made several TV appearances such as, Good Morning America, MTV awards, Billboard awards, Rockin New Years Eve, Tonight shows, and many others.
August 24, 2023, Crayton released his debut EP Everything. Dedicated to his late father, grandmother, grandfather, aunt, and sister, the EP shows versatility, experience, love, and good energy. Crayton plans to continue to drop music and become one of the greatest soul creators of his time. You can catch Crayton on tour with Grammy Winning country star, Kacey Musgraves.
